Community Emergency Preparedness

Road after earthquake

The City of Rio Vista encourages its residents and visitors to be prepared in the unlikely event of a local emergency or condition that may impact your way of life.  These can be small inconveniences such as short-term power losses, or much larger incidents such as fire or flood.

Each household has its own unique needs and risks.  We encourage you to start your emergency preparedness planning by identifying your risks. For example: does someone in your home rely on home oxygen? If so, then your risk when the power fails may be higher.

We also advise you to do the following:

  • Sign up for Alert Solano.  This system allows Solano County public agencies to provide you with critical information in a variety of situations on any device.
  • Follow your local Public Safety Agencies (PSAs) on social media.  Vital information will be shared on multiple platforms by our Public Information Officers (PIOs).
