Planning Commission

Purpose, Scope, and Duties

The Planning Commission shall have all of the powers and duties prescribed by City ordinance and state statute, including, but not necessarily limited to, the Planning and Zoning Law (Government Code Section 65000, et seq.), the Subdivision Map Act (Government Code Section 66410, et seq.), the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code Section 21000, et seq.), the city zoning ordinance (Title 17 of this code), and the City subdivision ordinance (Title 16 of this code). The Planning Commission addresses matters including but not limited to:

  1. Land Use
  2. Zoning
  3. Variances
  4. Design review

Meeting Times

Regular Planning Commission meetings are held on every second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. All meetings are open to the public via teleconference.

Regular and Special Planning Commission meetings are televised on Comcast Local Channel 26 and Streamed Live via Zoom.com. See the Meeting Agenda for that Meeting’s Zoom Link.

Membership

The Planning Commission is composed of seven (7) members appointed by the Mayor. The Commissioners shall serve staggered terms of four years . The Commission recommends plans for the regulation of future growth, development and design of the city, and carries out the provisions of the zoning ordinance.
