Mayor Ron Kott

Ron was raised in Auburn, New York, a small, lake-side community in the Finger Lakes area of upstate New York. His career took him to major metropolitan areas including, New York, Miami, Buffalo and San Francisco, before moving to Rio Vista in 2008, recapturing the small community atmosphere he found so appealing.

He has 25 years of senior-level financial and managerial experience holding the Chief Financial Officer, VP Finance, Controller and other top financial positions, both public and privately held companies. His experience covers; finance, accounting, budgeting, human resources, IT, operations and facilities management. He attended Rutgers University, then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he received a BS in Economics and an MBA. Additionally, he earned Certified Managerial Accountant and Certified Financial Management designations.  Beginning in 2010, Ron has volunteered his services providing free tax preparation to low- and middle-income taxpayers, mainly in Rio Vista, through the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Ron was elected to the City Council in November 2014. In 2016 he was appointed Vice Mayor and in November 2017, upon the passing of Mayor Norman Richardson, was appointed Mayor of Rio Vista. In addition to serving on various city committees and commissions, Ron also represents Rio Vista, serving on the boards of the Solano Transportation Agency, Solano County Water Authority, Yolo Solano Air Quality Board, the Delta Protection Commission, and several other regional agencies.
