The City will consider a request for a ceremonial proclamation from any group or individual if the request has local relevance and/or promotes activities taking place in Rio Vista. All requests are subject to approval by and prepared on behalf of the Mayor.
Ceremonial proclamations may be issued for:
- Events that have widespread community interest, with a primary emphasis on requests that are in support of City Council goals and objectives;
- Events or endeavors that are sponsored by or in support of City Council goals and objectives;
- Recognition of a local civic organization group or individual achieving outstanding or significant accomplishments within the City;
- Acknowledgment of significant events within the City (i.e. retirement of individual who has made significant contributions to the community) or celebrations;
- Public awareness campaigns that affect the citizens of Rio Vista.
Proclamations will be placed on the Presentations portion of a City Council meeting agenda and read by the Mayor or his/her designee. If the designated recipient of the proclamation is not in attendance to accept the proclamation, it will be mailed by the City Clerk’s Office.
A copy of the proclamation will be published on the City’s website, and the City’s social media platforms may be used to inform the public of the proclamation.
Submit a Request for a Proclamation
To request a proclamation, complete the form (linked below) and submit it to the City Clerk’s Office. All requests will go through an internal review and approval process. In accordance with the Rio Vista City Council General Policies and Procedures, requests received will be administered and approved by the Mayor. Submission of a request form does not guarantee the issuance of a proclamation.
Requests must be received at least fifteen (15) business days prior to the City Council meeting on the Request for Proclamation Form.
All requests must include the name and daytime phone number of the contact person.
Submitting a draft with your request of the document desired will expedite the process considerably.
Please specify whether someone will be present at the City Council meeting to accept the proclamation. Presentation at a specific City Council meeting must be approved in advance by the City Manager or his/her designee.
