SolarAPP+
Licensed Contractors can now use SolarAPP+ for real-time rooftop solar permitting in the City of Rio Vista
1. Eligibility to use SolarAPP+
- Main Dwelling Rooftop, Permitted, structures only.
- Any changes to Main Service Panel requires a separate application, permit and fees.
- Located in City of Rio Vista jurisdiction.
- Must be a licensed contractor registered with SolarAPP+
- Must have a current Business License with the City of Rio Vista
- Permit Runners are not allowed to request SolarAPP+ permits.

2. Submit for Automated Review Through SolarAPP+
- Submit your design to solarapp.nrel.gov .
- Click Login or Register to get started.
- A $25 processing fee will be charged by the SolarAPP+ website.

4. Apply for Permit
Apply for your building permit through the City of Rio Vista Building Permit email: buildingpermits@ci.rio-vista.ca.us
Required information is as follows:
- City of Rio Vista Building Application
- Approve documents from SolarApp+
All submittals will be verified for accuracy. Once verified, an email will be sent to the applicant with the fee amount. Permits can be picked up and paid for OR the applicant can mail in a check and the permit will be emailed. I
4. Getting an Inspection
Have your Construction Permit printed and available on-site for an inspector.

5. SolarAPP+ Revisions
Submit your revision to solarapp.nrel.gov, you will be provided with a downloadable revised SolarAPP+ Approval Document.
Send an email to buildingpermits@ci.rio-vista.ca.us request a revision to your existing permit. Staff will look up the status of the existing permit to determine whether a revision can be made or if a new permit is required and will provide further instructions. Additional fees will apply.
