Welcome to the Rio Vista Fire Department. Our mission is to protect life and property of those living, visiting or traveling through the City of Rio Vista and the Fire Districts we protect under contact. We meet our mission in a highly competent manner by the application of our core values: Community, Honor, Integrity, Professionalism and Service. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to explore all that our department has to offer. The Rio Vista Fire Department serves the City and surrounding areas from one Fire Station, staffed 24/7 365 with full-time paid Firefighter/Paramedics. Our response is augmented by Volunteer and Reserve Firefighters and by the surrounding Fire Departments and Districts though the use of Mutual and Automatic Aid. The RVFD responds to fires, emergency medical calls, hazardous materials, traffic accidents, non-emergent public assist calls; and on a variety of other types of incidents anytime we are requested by the Community. We provide fire prevention services that include plans review of new construction, Fire & Life Safety Inspections, school visits, public education and even courtesy smoke detector installation (residents must provide the smoke detector). My vision for the future includes a Fire Service in the Rio Vista area that is seamless, without boundaries and comes together to serve the public as if we were one Fire Department. Even though we may have different districts and departments mixed throughout the area, we should operate as one in the best interest of the public and firefighter safety. As your Fire Chief I am committed to continuous improvement and the constant evaluation of our service, to ensure it meets community expectations and best practices. We stand ready to serve and protect as we respond to the needs of the community at all times providing exceptional fire and emergency services. Please check back often as I plan to enhance our website in an effort to build an even better and stronger partnership with our community.
Jeff Armstrong, Fire Chief / Fire Marshal

* NOTE for Cell Phone Users:
Not all 911 calls from cell phones are routed to the nearest emergency call center; many times cell phone 911 calls are routed to the California Highway Patrol first. If you using a cell phone, your Rio Vista Public Safety services recommend taking the following steps:
- Program the Dispatch phone number (707) 374-2300 into your cell phone.
- Know your location when you call 911! Not all cell phones and systems are able to immediately track location – the more information the caller can provide, the faster assistance can be sent.
