2020 ELECTION INFORMATION

Candidate Filing Period – July 13 – August 7* – Nomination Opens – Nomination papers are available from the City Clerk, One Main Street, Rio Vista, CA, during the nomination period.  Call the City Clerk at 707-374-6567 to make an appointment to take out papers.  Another appointment will be required to file the nomination papers.  (Please allow an hour for each appointment.)  Nomination Papers must be signed in the presence of the City Clerk.  A City filing fee, in the amount of $25.00, in addition to the $150.00 cost for filing a candidate’s Statement of Qualifications, is due when the nomination papers are filed.  A candidate is required to file at least 20 but no more than 30 signatures. Withdrawal of nomination papers – up until the close of the nomination period, but not later, candidates may withdraw their nomination papers, after they are filed with the City Clerk. 

August 6*, 2020 (By Appointment) –  Nomination Closes – Nomination papers must be filed by appointment with the City Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on this date.  *City Hall is closed on Fridays; therefore, candidates are encouraged to file no later than Thursday, August 6th.  All relevant documents and fees must be filed at one time.

August 8 to August 12, 2020 – Extension of Nomination period for anyone other than the incumbent to file Declaration of Candidacy and Nomination Petition if an incumbent did not file by August 7, 2020.
